WHEN YOU"RE SWEATING HARD AND YOUR BUTT HURTS FROM THOSE HILLS, YOU WANT IT TO BE ALL WORTHWHILE, RIGHT?  WELL THESE WALKS MAKE UP FOR ALL THE PAIN AND THE SWEAT WITH THE BEST SCENERY AND/OR VIEWS TO KEEP YOUR MIND OFF THAT BUTT PINCH. NOT ONLY ARE YOU GETTING A GREAT OUTDOOR WORKOUT, BUT YOUR EYES ARE GETTING TREATED TO THE BEST NZ HAS TO OFFER.

blue springs, Te waihou walkway

Make sure you have plenty of storage on your phone or a clear SD card in your camera - you are gonna need it for this beauty of a walk!  And bonus...no major hills to climb to be awarded with this amazing spot.

MERCER BAY LOOP

Quick, easy but full of A-M-A-Z-I-N-G views!  Even better when you head out around sunset.  You might see a few couples enjoying a romantic picnic as there are a few little hideaway spots but all in all, it's a great all-round beauty of a track.

CATHEDRAL COVE

Cathedral Cove is a very well-known spot in NZ and popular for tourists and kiwis alike.  Head along on a beautiful summers day and you're walk will be longer than normal due to limited parking; however head out on a beautiful winters day and you might just enjoy it that little bit more, so long as a swim in the ocean isn't completely necessary... that's just downright crazy in winter (although not unheard of).

OMANAWANUI-KURA Loop track

This is another track full of photo-worthy moments.  It will be sure to take you much longer than it should just due to the amount of times you need to stop to take a photo and catch your breath from the views...oh and the hills.

ANAWHATA BEACH

This track is fairly basic in terms of complexity - its a simple path down to the beach and back up again but along the way you are treated to more gorgeous west coast beach beauty.  There used to be access to some really cool rock pools above a waterfall (that you can see from the viewing point on the path) but note, this is private land and should not be accessed.  A real shame as it is just amazing.

MT DONALD McLEAN & KARAMTURA FALLS

Karamatura Falls aren't super popular with the general public due to it not being the most accessible compared to other falls in the area, so this makes it even more enjoyable!.  Combine the walk with the Mt Donald McLean lookout and you have yourself a seriously photo-worthy walk on your hands.

wairere falls

Wairere Falls are not only the highest falls in the North Island, rising to an almighty 153m, but they are also stunning, AND you can get right on top of them whilst soaking in the spectacular Waikato plains.

WENDERHOLM

Wenderholm is a great spot for so many reasons - you've got expansive park areas for BBQs and cricket with the family; the beach is calm and safe for swimming; there's a really pretty historic home smack bang in the middle of the grounds and there is a series of walks to take you over and around the headlands.  Plus, it's 5 minutes from Waiwera Hot Pools, great for soaking aching muscles!
