MERCER BAY LOOP WALK

DURATION: Approx 45 mins

Mercer Bay Loop is full of dramatic cliffs, ocean views for miles and classic native New Zealand fauna.

To get started, drive towards Piha and turn off at Log Race Road.  Drive right to the end until you see the carpark - there are signs pointing you in the direction of the walks.  As this is a loop, there is access from either side of the carpark.  Our preferred option is to head to the right when facing west (i.e. looking towards the ocean).  This will descend you along the coast where there are little spots for snapping those epic photos or like for some of the other walkers out one Friday summer evening, romantic picnics by sunset.  There is a link that takes you to a cliff lookout then you will need to track back to complete the loop.  The way back is a steady incline towards the carpark - remember to look behind you because the views continue to be amazing.  The track is easy going with some muddy bits when there has been a bit of rain.  Best enjoyed on a clear day to make the most of those views and great to take visitors to the city to show off.  All in all an easy track for everyone.
