Blue Springs - Te Waihou Walkway

Blue springs - te waihou walkway

DURATION: 1 hr 30 min one way – 3 hr return when walking from the Whites Road carpark. A shorter option is from the Leslie Road carpark.

The main walkway is situated off Whites Road, with upstream access from Leslie Road, in Putaruru. The most scenic route is to walk to the halfway point, take the loop track then return the way you came. The best access for this option is via the Leslie Road car park.  In saying that, though, it is incredibly scenic throughout so you can't really go wrong.  We went from the Leslie Road carpark, walked around 5.2km return which took around an hour (this included A LOT of photo taking).

The track is very easy going and mostly flat (there are a couple of areas where there are stairs or slight incline) but most of the pathway is suitable to take a pram or such like.

It's an absolute must-do as there really is not a lot like it in this world now.  NB there is a swimming ban presently to ensure the purity of the water and to be honest, I can't see why you would want to swim and disrupt the beauty but each to their own I guess.
